Months after escaping from Alu's tomb, Kammani and other runaway teenage girls found refuge in the city-state of Manzazu. There, Kammani became a respected healer, especially among the warriors she brought back from the brink of death. Now that Aru's nightmare is fading, she can finally decide whether or not to get married. But when an assassin murders a healer he believes to be Kamani and tries to kill the displaced Queen Aru, the teenage girls realize they've been found. The Queen of Manzazu is thirsty for revenge and wants to fight back against Alu with her most ferocious weapon - her scorpion warrior maiden - but Kammani knows that war does more harm than cure. In order to save the innocents and have any chance of a future with Dagan, Kammani must overthrow the rulers of Alu before their lives burn in the flames of war.
